What is Coaching For LGBTQ, Gay, Queer, Trans & Bisexual Men?

The last few years have fostered one of the strongest and most supportive communities for gay, queer, trans, and bisexual men in history. Yet there are still plenty of challenges left – from family and community, and particularly around sex and relationships.

Luckily, LGBTQ coaching can help deal with these issues.

What is LGBTQ Coaching?

As a man who identifies as gay, bi, queer, trans or simply questions being heterosexual in a homophobic society, finding yourself means finding freedom from the rules and judgments of the larger society.

It also means obtaining the personal freedom to choose your desires in the face of the expectations of the smaller subcultures in which you live.

LGBTQ coaching can take you on a journey into the deepest parts of your sexual and relationship desires. There, you’ll learn how to find the freedom that allows you to enjoy every sip of the sex life and relationships you consciously create.

Questioning Sexuality

One of the key beliefs of the Somatica sex coaching approach is that sexuality is fluid. Do we really need to fit into some predefined box of sexuality that comes with predetermined desires, roles, and mannerisms? Or is sexuality something that connects us to our deep and differing desires? Does it reveal itself as a very individual expression? And does it influence how we interact with ourselves, our lives, and the people around us?

LGBTQ coaching can help you explore what it may feel like to have another man receive your desire, and in turn for you to receive the desire of another man. This type of coaching creates a safe and contained environment that is accepting of and caring for whatever may arise within you. It is an opportunity to explore where your desires truly lie without shame.

Explore an Expanded Menu of Sexual Pleasure and Intimacy

Coaching also allows you take a journey into your internal world of pleasure and self-awareness, and find out what your potential is.

You can explore and expand your masturbation practices, find expanded pleasures, and learn how you like to touch – and be touched. Coaching can also teach you all the ways sex and intimacy are connected – and how they are sometimes different. Learn to take your time and savor experiences of true erotic and emotional connection.

Navigate Fantasy Play and Porn

Another pathway to pleasure is through fantasies – those we have in our minds, and those we play out with partners.

Maybe you are very aware of your fantasies and are already comfortable with them. Perhaps you have feelings of uncertainty about your fantasies and desires. And maybe you have a desire to clarify your relationship to pornography, and to take charge of what role you want it to play in your personal and sexual life.

By talking about your fantasies and porn experiences with your coach – and through conscious practice role-play – you can release shame or judgment you may feel. Coaching allows you to discover the pathway to your core erotic desires and have the hottest, most exciting sex possible.

Negotiating the Relationships You Want

Sex, by itself, does not provide the intimacy that many men crave. As a gay, queer, trans, or bi man, defining your sexual relationships and finding freedom takes a lot of self-awareness and communication. Particularly if you want to get the most out of your intimate relationships and friendships.

When you are forging your own path and creating new definitions of relationship and community, there can be confusion and misunderstandings with partners. Connections between men can also be very focused on sex (and not always good sex!) and can bypass intimacy or relationship-building.

What to Expect From an LGBTQ Coaching Session

In sessions, your coach helps you to honestly clarify and negotiate what you really want. No matter if you come to session alone or with a partner, they help you communicate through difficult topics and build long-term communication strategies so your relationship becomes more loving and connected and stay that way.

Often, body-based sessions for couples are also on the coaching menu. Here, you learn to give and receive arousing touch, communicate your physical desires, and have and give incredible pleasure.

In your coaching sessions you will find out what holds you back and gain the practical tools to get exactly what you want through:

  • Experiential learning: Your body is a place to start, and your coach will invite you into it, away from the noise and distractions, and into a grounded, embodied presence so you can practice new skills around sex and intimacy.
  • Real-time feedback: You can only improve if you are given honest, straightforward feedback about how you come across. Your coach will be your guiding light in this respect.
  • Identification and transformation of unhelpful habits: Humans are very habitual. Your coach helps you find freedom from your habits so you can get the results you want.
  • A creative and open-minded approach to relationship structures.
